Caliendo, Sebastiano Borelli, Gaziano & Girling

All three have been featured in articles by me on The Rake in the past week. Don't forget to check it out. Plus Emma Willis, Liverano & Liverano, Carmina and others.

See the first stage of a jacket with Neapolitan tailor Elia Caliendo here.

Read an interview with my favourite shirtmaker, Seb from Kiton (above), here.

And a detailed photo story on the bespoke process at G&G here.

  1. Not related to this article, but wasz wondering, given the inclement weather at the moment, what shoes do you wear when it as wet and miserable as it is at the moment in London.

  2. Hi Simon,
I am looking fordward to seeing the final product taylored by Elia Caliendo. I confess that I had never heard the name before! Be that as it may, the style of the jacket already looks very elegant! It should be a very smart casual outfit indeed!
And to be honest, I really hope it will help British fashion retailers - at least those who take time to read blogs dedicated to menswear such as this one - to start experimenting more on new designs while using the wide range of high quality fabrics at hand!

  3. Hi George,

I wear, in ascending order of damp conditions: leather-soled boots, rubber-soled shoes, rubber overshoes, cordovan rubber-soled boots.

Wipe your shoes down when you get inside and you should be ok with normal shoes, as long as you don't get caught in a torrential downpour. Polishing and spraying also helps protect.

    Cheers

  4. Good blog Simon, still enjoying reading this and it's become even more handy since adding it to facebook.

As an addition to George's question, I can echo similar sentiments to yourself. For damp weather I tend towards a pair of storm welted leather soled brogues. if i Know its going to be absolutely soaking, I have a pair of waxed nubuck C&J tetburys with dainite soles that handle Scottish weather very well indeed.

If its going to be worse than that, I either wear some C&J storm welted, dainite soled brogue boots, or I stay indoors!!

    keep up the good work.
