Santa Maria Novella, Gaziano & Girling and Merchant Fox



This past few weeks on The Rake website I've written about my first bespoke fitting at Gaziano & Girling, the sensual pleasures of Santa Maria Novella and the reasons why The Merchant Fox has a unique selling point with its bags - no one else is close enough to go down the road to Baker's and sort out the tanning recipe for the new shade of brown.   2. You want Classic or Russe. Russe has more citrus to it, but both are classic colognes. Say hello to Bane for me

  3. Will do. Thanks very much for the tips. By Classic you mean the cologne named Santa Maria Novella? Also, if you were looking around for a classic and light eau de cologne, which ones would you gravitate towards (not necessarily from SMN)?

    1. You want Classico, ask in the shop.

      Any of the Italians, acqua di parma obviously but anything similar

    I enjoyed reading the piece on your bespoke shoes. I smiled as I only recently (at 50) went for my first bespoke shoe and, to be honest, will find it hard to go back. So I plan to do with what I've done with my suits for years - fewer but always have what I want tailored for me
