As per usual, Graham Browne is doing a sale over Christmas - on the days when the guys are still working but most of us are tucked up at home with a glass of mulled wine.
The sale runs on the 27th, 28th and 31st of December. During that period any suit from the bunches comes with a free waistcoat or extra pair of trousers - so a three piece for the price of a two piece. Also, the boys scored a bit of a coup in securing all the remaining H Lesser cloth from their discontinued 80s and 90s bunches. Sale price for those is £795 for a suit.
As if that weren't enough, some vintage W Bill jacketings have been brought over from the Sackville Street archive - see the Graham Browne blog for more details.

Hi Simon
ReplyDeleteFirstly a happy new year to you and a big thank you for all your brilliant posts.
Having read quite a few of your posts on Graham Browne I took the plunge over Christmas and ordered a single-breasted mid-grey flannel suit.
I'm not sure why but I didn't take the opportunity to ask you for any advice, tips, etc before going in. Perhaps my brain was clouded by too many mince pies! As a result I don't think I was as well prepared as I could have been and I may have rushed myself slightly.
So ahead of the 1st fitting I was just wondering if there was any things I should be thinking about or looking out for? Or any questions I should be asking (of GB or myself)? I have a decent idea on fit (thanks to you) but any other pointers you could give would be brilliant.
Many thanks in advance!
There's a lot to go through. Have a look at previous posts called things like Going to the tailor. And remember the first fitting is mostly for the tailor, getting an idea of fundamental fit, and not for you!
Deletehi simon. I have appreciated all your advice over the years. I recently went to graham Browne to get some work done. The finished product is great and fits well. However, it was straight to finished suit after the first baste fitting. This seems a bit unusual to me. Should I be concerned about the quality. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteIt's unusual and I would ask why, but don't worry. One thing that you can be sure about at GB is never having the wool pulled over your eyes. They may sometimes be disorganised but they are never deceitful - unlike many tailors, particularly the travelling variety.
DeleteMany other tailors do just one fitting on second and third suits, and A&S only does one (forward) even on the first suit.
Thanks for your response, it gives me comfort. I will ask them but very curious how they got such a good result in my opinion from there baste to finish. I am only concerned it has been done by a mtm
DeleteThanks certainly not the case. I don't think they even know a MTM maker
DeleteI used to hear the name 'William Westmancott' quite often but haven't heard his name in a while ? Do you know of him ?
