One more



This one from High Snobiety, brother to Selectism. I find it interesting how much more casual a hat looks if the brim is just turned down at the back.

    1. I take your point Jean. I spent very little time actually outside and you will see many serious posts over the coming weeks on brands in Pitti and in Florence. But many others ask for photos of me nd what I'm wearing, and I rarely have any good ones. So I hope you'll forgive me taking this opportunity

    2. When an outfit is so well put together, you are more than entitled to show everybody Mr Crompton.

      I run a tiny blog (Sharper Living) and I get similar requests, so I can only imagine the demand for yours.

      It's nice to see your clothes in action!

      Also, this is making me really want a hat, but at 21 I think it might look a little contrived, even if it is practical...

    3. No, you're never too young for a hat. Where it with an overcoat on cold days and raincoat on wet ones. It will seem like the most natural thing in the world

  2. simon wondered if the polo coat you had made at graham browne has seen much wear by you since you had it made? thinking of getting something similar & wondered how much it was at GB? The only other place ive seen them RTW are Brooks but quite expensive @ ~£1500 so thinking may have to go the bespoke route.

    in previous posts you said camel hair wasnt a hard wearing material .. wondered what your experience has been since?

    1. Hi Rupesh,

      It has worn well, though I have two other overcoats so it doesn't get a huge amount of wear. Maybe a dozen times per winter? It's also very warm so only suited to the coldest days. A shorter, SB version would be more versatile.

      It was around the same price as the Brooks I think, but you'll have to check with GB. There's certainly a peculiar pleasure to having a bespoke overcoat, as it makes more difference to the look than you'd expect.

  7. Agreed. Great look. And don't be put off publishing occasional pics when you are out and about, used judiciously they add depth & background to what you are saying and remind us that you generally live what you espouse.

    Even though I too had a gentle pop at the 'shawl' effort ;-)
